Hi, my name is Stewart Botting and together with Alex Thistlethwayte, who is the Chairman of the Trustees and responsible for all the funding, we run the Right Now Foundation, a charity aimed at children in desperate straits.

We have been established since November of 2007 and have worked, to date, solely in India.  Since we began, nearly eight years ago, we have grown from supporting one Children’s home to establishing twenty projects in four States in the South Eastern region of the country.  Some have come and gone, some have gone from strength to strength, but all our success remains dependent on our local partnerships: we have built fantastic working relationships with some outstanding NGOs and are privileged to able to support their work and grow alongside them.  In Chennai we work with Solomon Raj of Shelter Trust, who began with an HIV home, whose work has grown from his deep conviction to support HIV children, and who is now our key partner in South India.  In Northern Andhra Pradesh, we work with the wonderful Victor and Mary Parisipogula of Brighter Future Trust, which works with tirelessly with leprosy communities and HIV children. Together we have established seven new children’s homes in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Chhattisgarh.

Our homes are established in places where we believe there is a real need and little in the way of existing support for the children deemed in need of our help.  They are most often orphaned children, or children who have been abandoned, or are in some kind of danger.  Poverty overshadows every aspect of life at the bottom of the pile and it’s impossible to separate this from what causes so many of the problems with children, which means we don’t believe in setting our terms too exactly, but respond instead, to each case, as it comes our way.

Each home has been established along the same principles, that of being a home and not an institution, but takes on its’ own character as it develops under the local leaders, in this the Right Now Foundation is not an organisation but a group of people – our identity lies in the amazing leaders who work so hard to improve the lives of the children in our homes across a huge landscape, and a diverse culture, in the hope that the children will be able to leave our home and go on to live happy lives.
