Right Now for children believes that every child has the right to a safe and secure childhood. Children should have the chance to develop, learn, and grow up in a loving home. However not all children get these chances.
In India life for many children is perilously hard. Death of their parents, poverty, illness, abuse and neglect puts children in terrible and dangerous situations. They face their childhood living on the street, forced into prostitution, poverty and at risk of further abuse. Whilst India is the world’s largest democracy 37% of the population live in poverty and nearly half of all children are malnourished, against this backdrop many children and their families have the odds stacked against them.
Helping children right now: Right Now for children helps these children. We work with the most vulnerable children who are at risk of abandonment and neglect because of poverty, bereavement and family breakdown. Children who have lost their parents, have been abused or abandoned. We have worked in India for the last 10 years and have helped hundreds of children escape a life of destitution. Through our children’s homes and family support programmes we have given them security, hope and their childhood back. Right Now for children helps children who have no one else to care for them.
